Very interesting sector. Surely there will be regulations being implemented but people have to look at this as an alternative to smoking….not a new “bad” product.

  2. Charles says:

Even smart guys like Brent Willis make mistakes, that’s the question I would have asked. I wouldn’t risk money on a stock that is not even traded on a public index and cannot manage to make a penny in earnings despite its high margins. Barrier to entry for this product is low, no fields, pesticides, etc needed. Big tobacco has the means, knowhow and distribution to sell its own ecigs and crush any competitor. I wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole. Maybe Mr. Willis is too emotionally invested in this project.

    1. Kyle says:

Every company takes its revenue and invests it back into the company. Look at all the major success stories – they take their earnings and use it to expand – especially when its just the beginning.

As far as big tobacco crushing competitors, that’s not what they do. They acquire – just like mining companies.

The boys let the little guys do the dirty work and they buy them out with their big cash and shares. Simple concept

Gonna have to wait and see if this goes through the market driven actions, both good and bad, that have affected recommendations like Balmoral or timmins,or…if it will be pummeled like Elissa resources before I point and yell “pump and dump”. Ivan the “appearance” to me is, you are taking chances on alienating your readership for a quick buck.

      Thank you for your comment.

While I understand the frustrations of everyone invested in the gold sector, both Balmoral and Timmins Gold hit new 52-week highs following our initial coverage. Balmoral shares were at $0.57 when we wrote about them well over a year ago. During that year, they hit a high of over $1.26 and was named one of the best performing stocks on the TSX Venture. They have since graduated to the TSX and was recently named Prospector of the Year in Quebec.

Timmins Gold was originally covered at a share price of $2.21. Last year, following our report, the Company traded as high as $3.47, just a few months after our report. They were also named by RBC Capital Markets as the highest free cash flow yield in our coverage universe, following our report.

So while the gold market has been hit, those who followed Balmoral and Timmins Gold from our initial reports did very well. We haven’t covered any new gold companies yet because of the volatility in gold, although we have been offered by many to do so.

As far as Elissa, we never wrote about them.

I thank you for allowing me the time to discuss your frustrations and am most certainly glad that you took the time to share them.

Equedia hasn’t been paid to cover Victory whatsoever. However, I truly believe that the electric cigarette market is taking the world by storm and this piece was more about getting our audience to look and understand the sector – before every analysts and every bank starts covering it. Please look at this report as a window into a new sector, rather than the focus on a particular stock.

  4. Tony says:

“Victory is not an advertiser, I do not own options in the Company, and the views here are completely my own. However, I have placed money into Victory with friends, family, and introduced the deal to subscribers of my other newsletter, investmentdiary.com, at a very early stage and at a much cheaper valuation. There is a one-year hold for the stock placed. As such, I am biased.”

I would like to know what price you got in, and when does the holding period expire?

The 52 week high for the stock is $60, it’s now at $7.51. Why the huge drop?

Also the average daily volume is 4,000. Have fun selling.

  5. anthony says:

I don’t doubt your good intentions, nor those of the Victory folks. I also won’t doubt their ability to leverage retail outlets. But, as a user of e-cigs: I’ve never heard of Victory (and I’ve done alot of research) and after now researching them, I can say without hesitation, that there are many better alternatives.
I will grant you that my comments are based on the product, and that if the sales channel is managed, there may be a spike in the volume. But the e-cig market won’t ultimately be controlled by inferior products, simply because they’re carried by gas stations and drug stores.

  6. Bob says:

@Anthony: As a user, can you shed some light on the environmental aspects of this product? Like, do you throw away each ecig after the gas is gone? How many do you dispose compared to normal cigs? Does the battery constitute a hazardous waste? Will I be tripping over them on the sidewalk? Thanks.

    1. anthony says:

      @Bob:
First, let me just say that I agree with the premise that e-cigs will grow significantly. Second, I agree with the comment made by Charles that the barriers to entry are low. I’m just not sure this company has the product for success, at this point anyway.

To answer your questions: there are two basic kinds of e-cigs: disposable and refillable. The disposable (the kind normally seen in gas stations etc.) will last approximately the equivalent of a pack of regular cigs and then get tossed. The batteries have the same impact on the environment as your flashlight batteries or any other household item you put into a landfill. Whether you trip on them on the street depends on the personal responsibility exercised by the user. Do you trip on other trash an unthoughtful person tossed on the sidewalk? Don’t blame the product, blame the person.

Most people who get into them and bother to do a bit of research will opt for the refillable. They are far less expensive on a day to day basis than the disposables and than regular cigarettes, and they work and taste far better, with greater variety. The batteries are rechargeable, and the e-cig “containers” for the smoking liquid get refilled as the liquid is vaporized. The small plastic bottles with which one purchases the liquid are recyclable or not, depending on the manufacturer. Happy to answer any other questions, as I do think this product is far healthier and personally more pleasurable than normal cigs.

  7. ronaldo says:

What is the comparison cost profit analysis for the producing company say for someone who use to smoke 10 packs a month or other basis and now smokes equivalent in ecigs.

I believe u stated that there were no second hand smoke hazards yet earlier u stated that there were 10 to 20 chemicals mixed into the water vapor which would undoubtedly reach other’s inhalation. And what about any smell? is there any?

  8. Ben says:

I like the thinking here but I think there is one step better than this…….its called 22nd Century Group (XXII) and they’re only company on the planet that can genetically modify the tobacco leaf.

After 2 years due diligence, British American Tobacco recently signed an agreement to licence 22nd’s technology.

It’s an absolute monster, with much more upside than the stock mentioned above.
