Selwyn Resources Ltd. is the successor to Pacifica Resources Ltd. that underwent a reorganization of its assets in June 2007. Pacifica's acquisition of the Howard's Pass Joint Venture lands in April 2005 consolidated ownership in the Howard's Pass District and the formation of the Selwyn Project. The unprecedented exploration success in the 2005 and 2006 programs has produced a world class giant zinc-lead deposit of exceptional potential. In the reorganization, all of Pacifica's assets outside of the Selwyn District in the eastern Yukon were transferred to Savant Explorations Ltd. for common shares of Savant.
The restructuring established Selwyn Resources Ltd. as a single purpose company focused on the development of the Selwyn Project as a world class zinc-lead project. In the process of providing this focus, Pacifica crystallized the value of its non-core assets and established a vibrant new exploration company with strong leadership.
Savant acquired the Yava and Tillex properties in Canada, Blue Moon Project in United States, and Yuby-Gabriela, Islena and Lucy projects in Chile from Pacifica for 12,857,143 shares. These shares were transferred to shareholders of Pacifica, and Selwyn as the successor to Pacifica purchased 7,400,000 shares and 3,700,000 warrants of Savant, thereby providing $2,590,000 in seed capital to Savant to fund its initial exploration and growth. By means of Selwyn's seed capital investment in Savant, it retains a major shareholding in Savant providing additional exploration.
With the formation of Selwyn Resources, management has a clear mandate and mission of advancing the Selwyn Project to bankable feasibility study and production. This is a major undertaking that will be met with the same energy that led to its creation. The challenges before Selwyn should simply make the journey more interesting.
The outlook for base metals remains very positive, with the supply-demand fundamentals for zinc and lead looking particularly strong over the next 5 to 10 years as mine development tries to keep up with rapid demand growth and replace production from several mines nearing depletion.
